Day Trippers
Learn more about your community with the OTV Day Trippers. Day trips are occasional outings to interesting places in the Washington, D.C. area and even farther afield. These outings are announced in the Crier and are open to all OTV residents.
Day Trippers was the brain child of OTV residents, Susan Allison and Bette Collins. Susan was new to the area and thought it would be fun to organize day trips to see places in the area. Since then, we have visited such sights as Arlington Cemetery, Hillwood, Dumbarton Oaks, Andersen House, the C & O Canal, Mt. Vernon, and the Design Center.
In February 2006, Day Trippers visited the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) a few blocks away. Interesting presentations revealed fabulous facts about our neighbor. Did you know that the floor space in the PTO's offices equals that of the Empire State Building, and did you know that the PTO Cafeteria is open to all and commemorates the historic railroad roundhouse of our "Roundhouse"?
Watch for the announcement of our next outing in the Crier. Please join us for fun and a chance to learn more about this interesting area. If you have suggestions for an outing, please contact Marilynne Black at 703-739-9361.
